5- Dub muskrat from behind wing back to tail and then forward again. Stop dubbing just short of wing. Tie in hackle immediately in front of dubbing. Hackle should be slightly shorter than wing length. NOTE: Hackle is optional for this pattern
6- After trimming hackle stem, fill in gap from hackle tie-in to wing with dubbing. Use a turn or two of dubbing in front of wing as well.
7- Wind two turns of hackle behind wing and two turns in front of wing. Tie off hackle and trim.
8- Dub head and whip finish. Notice how distinct the head is.
